Is there a fix to the 2.10 upgrade yet?
When will the fix be incorporated into the USB zip file and available for everyone to download?

I can\'t speak for the project staff as to when there will be an official update or anything like that but I was directed to a fix. See my previous post for details. I\'m not certain that this will fix your specific problem but you might want to give a try.

I\'m encountering problems myself. I did utilize the new file you linked to above and it was able to boot, however I still cannot get the boinc client to start. I believe that for myself, I will let some time pass until this becomes easier to utilize. Obviously I\'m not very computer literate, but I do love helping these projects as much as I can. I will keep my eye on this place however in hopes that day won\'t be far off.

The BOINC Client should start as soon as Linux starts in either the simple or advanced view depending on your preferences. If this is not so there may be a corrupt file and since you have already lost the work unit you were crunching before the update you may want to just start over and redo the entire install not just the otheros.bld file.

NB (and rant): May I make a suggestion to anyone reading this thread--DO NOT update your PS3 in the future unless project staff gives the OK. In my opinion this whole mess was not handled well by the project. Not even so much as a \"hey, sorry everyone, we\'ll look into this and CORRECT IT FOR YOU.\"

If you look at the forums of almost any other well handled BOINC project (read: Rosetta) there will be threads upon threads of problems with software. But, unlike this project, problems are fixed quickly and (most importantly) staff apologizes for not being there when needed the most.

One last very important point for the project staff. You must realize that this project exists only because we donate our incredibly expensive PS3\'s, our incredibly expensive electricity and lastly (but not least) our very precious time. Without these this project would simply not exist. Time to get on the ball don\'t you think...

Yea of course you are right, but please don´t forget that we have Christmas holidays now, and also a project Administrator needs some time for holidays! ;)

And actually it wasn´t the fault of PS3GRID that the Live Linux wasn´t working anymore, but it was because Sony changed the firmware of the PS3.

Also don´t forget PS3GRID is still in Beta...

Regards,
Stefan

I know, I know :)

All that you said is certainly true. I\'m simply stating that this is the project admins \"project\" so start treating it with at least the amount of respect that we the volunteers give. For some of us this is just a hobby and for others it is much more.

So what if the holidays are here, if the admin does not want to take responsibility for his project while gone then a big sign should have been posted on the front page like \"I\'m off for the holidays, if something happens hang in there, I\'ll get to it when I get back\" or he should have simply pulled the plug for the time he was gone. What are we, just a bunch of spare cycles?

Also, what is your definition of a Beta Project? Is it not to learn from the mistakes made, correct them and move on. So Sony updated their product, was this not expected? If not there is a serious problem here. Look, the bottom line (and key word) is responsibility. Take responsibility for your product and if there is nothing that can be done about it now explain this to your consumers. At least be responsible enough to communicate what is going on instead of just checking out ([sarcasm]I mean come on, this is JUST a Beta Project[/sarcasm])

Thanks for listening,

Tim
