I just wanted to check to make sure i wasn't the only one. But i have not gotten and task in a few days. I saw the notice about getting more PHDs in June, so i just figured we had run through everything.

There is currently more demand for tasks than supply. Work is still there, but you may only receive it from time to time. Check the Server Status page for more info.

There are 385 tasks in progress and none on the server.
You are not the only one who is not receiving tasks. Only about 1 in 10 systems will have work.
When tasks are returned new WU's are generated from the returns and sent out to clients (when clients ask for work). This is done for x number of steps and then that batch finishes. Looks like we are at the end of one or more batches.

Suggest people attach to other Boinc projects and run the GPU tasks there.
I'm running Einstein, Albert and MW tasks. Would be running POEM tasks also except they all fail, restarting the video drivers and sometimes crashing the system (Bad driver IMO).

You are right, the OpenCL is broken in the 364.* drivers. See this thread.

I'm currently running on 359.06 and have had no problems at POEM.

Looks like Gerard ran out of things for us to crunch. If that is the case, and it will be an extended amount of time before new WUs are available, we deserve the courtesy of being informed about that. After all, when WUs do become available, you do want us to come back and crunch them!!

I read that posting, and we are talking about 2 different things. I am talking about current work situation and courtesy, if you are out of work, be honest about it, up front, not what may happen sometime in future.

And that posting sounded a lot like another posting from last December, which stated that new students would start in January (we assumed 2016). And did you notice that we never got an explanation why that fell through?

Hi everyone,

I apologize for not keeping you updated as much as you deserve. I've been writting a paper and running some tests locally before submitting any work to gpugrid. I can't tell you for sure which date these WU will be released, so for the moment I suggest you crunch WU for other projects keeping high priority on GPUGRID for upcoming work.

Thanks a lot for your patience and sorry again for not informing you more regularly.

Sincerely yours,

Gerard M.

Hi Bedrich,

about the new PhD student, all I can tell you is that he came to visit the lab but unfortunately he will not start working here until the end of next month (if I am not mistaken). He is now working for a pharma company and his contract ends by then.

I will keep you updated about any relevant news regarding new incorporations to the GPUGRID family soon.

Thanks again for your patience.

Gerard M.

Thanks for the prompt reply Gerard. I hope you understand that my statements were not in way intended to be derogatory, but merely expressing an opinion. This opinion was directed at the entire project staff. Thank you again for answering on behalf of them.
